Dear EPOS Members and Guests,

The 29th Annual Meeting of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society will be held in Zagreb / Croatia from 7th to 10th April 2010. On behalf of the EPOS Board it is my pleasure to welcome you to this meeting.
There will be a one-day pre-meeting course presenting the topic "Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease - one Century after". The main topic of the annual meeting will be "Upper Extremity". In addition, there will be free papers' presentations, lunch time lectures, workshops, and an industrial exhibition.
The city of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, has a rich collection of cultural heritage, deeply rooted in the European history. The local organizing committee lead by Darko Anticevic has worked very hard for the preparation of this event. I can assure you they will be excellent hosts. They will make this meeting a highlight, scientifically as well as socially.
I invite you to attend the 29th EPOS Meeting in Zagreb.

See you all in Zagreb 2010!

Dietrich Schlenzka
President of EPOS

Dear Colleagues,

The 29th Annual Meeting of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society is about to begin. It is a great honour and privilege to welcome you to Zagreb on behalf of the Croatian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society and the Local Organizing Committee.
The meeting venue, the Westin Zagreb hotel, has all necessary facilities and is centrally situated in the close vicinity of Zagreb's historical attractions to offer you and your family an enjoyable experience.
Zagreb - the capital of Croatia - has recently gone through substantial renovation. The newly opened Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts instantly become a focal point for numerous visitors. A complete restoration of our national pride - St. Mark's Church in Upper Town (Gornji Grad) was finished last year and the church regained its original medieval appearance.... just to mention two out of many new things to see. Some innovators in the biomedical field, such as Ivan Vučetić, inventor of dactyloscopy; Andrija Štampar, promoter of social and preventive medicine and Nikola Tesla, inventor of rotating magnetic field, were born and educated in Croatia.
The meeting will be a forum to present and discuss almost all facets of our subspecialty i.e. from the main topic - upper extremity to full sessions on spine and foot. Deborah Eastwood, Chairperson of the Reading Committee, has done an excellent job in selecting and arranging the scientific program out of more than 340 submitted abstracts. The pre-meeting Course will be the first of several international meetings in the year 2010 to mark the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease.
We have prepared an offer of pre- and post-meeting tours to main tourist attractions on the Croatian Adriatic coast - the world-known cities of Dubrovnik, Split and Trogir, nostalgic Opatija and the unique Plitivice Lakes National Park.
We trust that you will enjoy the 29th EPOS Meeting in Zagreb both scientifically and socially.

Darko Antičević
EPOS Zagreb 2010 LOC Chairman
